Horizon Hospice has provided an extraordinary experience in care to the terminally ill and their families and loved ones throughout San Diego county for 26 years with one overriding principle:
At Horizon Hospice, the quality of care
is more important than the bottom line.
Every aspect of our service reflects our focus on the patient as an individual, not as a numbered client.
• Each RN is assigned to a maximum of ten patients, half the patient load assigned
by larger non-
• Each RN typically visits only 2 to 4 patients per day, giving her the flexibility and opportunity to deal with the unique and changing daily needs of the patient, the family and the caregivers.
• We don't use voicemail or phone trees. Your call will always be answered by a live person no matter when you call, even if its 3 am on a Sunday. We know that in time of crisis, you need to hear the voice of a person who understands your concerns.
• Whenever you call, our care coordinators, counselors, social workers and medical staff are familiar with each patient and their needs, so you won't be passed around from person to person. Having a limited census makes that possible. Our family to family philosophy accepts nothing less.
“You ensured that my father was not in pain, assisted him in grasping the fact that he was dying and relived him of that anger and hostility.
With your assistance, he was back to being ‘my dad’… and my family is forever grateful.
We were able to do a lot of serious talking, crying and laughing.
I will treasure the time we were able to spend together.”
